100 Cassocks for 100 Seminarians

When we look around in our day to day life, we see that almost all of our societal structures are crumbling. At times it even seems as though the church is beginning to crack. Yet it also seems that in such times the Spirit of God moves among those who would answer the call and take up the charge to reform the church. Our Catholic faith is incarnational and by default is embodied in signs and images. One striking and timeless image is the humble priest in his noble cassock. A cassock is not only a garment to identify the priest to the world, but it is also his habit. It reminds him daily of who he is, what he is to be about and how he is to live. The cassock for the priest is truly the putting on of the new man in Christ.

Some may say that the cassock is an item of a bygone era and something that has no place in today's church. And yet, there is a movement (a movement of the Spirit many say) among young men answering that call to return to this outward sign of inward grace. Seminarians and young priests see the cassock as a dying to self and as a putting on of Christ. The cassock for them is a true sign of the priest! As it was for the saints of old, so it is hoped to be again for our current age.   Read more & support...
